GIS Rangers is a group of motivated GIS professionals whose number one goal is to provide the best service for our customers.  We enjoy bringing GIS to people, because we believe the technology provides valuable information and cost savings.  We believe that in order to reap the benefits of GIS , you should not have to be a GIS expert.  To that end, we pride ourselves on creating GIS tools so anyone, regardless of GIS or computer skills, can get the information they seek.  We do every job, large or small, with the same enthusiasm.  Meet the GIS Rangers below.

Mike has over 12 years experience working in the GIS industry.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a degree in Geography in 1999.  During his college tenure, he worked as a Planning Intern for the City of South St. Paul where he was responsible for creating all of the GIS maps for the comprehensive plan.

Shortly after graduating, Michael worked as a GIS Specialist for Ameregis, a local mapping and research firm.  He spent over 9 years gaining valuable knowledge and experience working on a large variety of projects.  Most notably, creating and manipulating large datasets and high quality maps for 2 published books and over 20 regional graphic reports.

Mike has used ESRI and Mapinfo products throughout his GIS career.  Since joining the Rangers in 2009, he has acquired new skills using Trimble/PDA handheld devices, City Works, Pictometry and Open Source mapping.  He is also responsible for training new employees and city staffs throughout the metro area.

Mike also has over 12 years teaching percussion to middle, high school and college students. In his free time, Mike enjoys running, cooking, bowling and making some delicious homebrew.  He is a current member of the Minnesota Vikings drumline and enjoys performing for the fans at the games.  One of his prized accomplishments was finishing his first marathon in October.
